fresh starts.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Last week I celebrated the last day of school. And the beginning of the summer.

In education, there are constant beginnings and endings: first day of school, last day of school; new semesters, final exams. As my 8th school year (my 8th!? holy cow! where did time go?!) comes to a close, I am looking forward to the opportunity for fresh starts– not because I had a bad ending, but because it’s like having New Year’s Eve all over again; start up Auld Lang Syne and re-write those pesky resolutions.

This time of year, I am excited to close out the school year and prepare for an even better one; but personally, I am excited to get a fresh start on my diet a healthy lifestyle.

I need a fresh start. Big stuff at work has thrown me off track recently and led to the things that come with stress for me: bad eating habits, overindulgence, lack of exercise, and thus a few extra pounds. Work has settled down so I am taking advantage of this natural ending and beginning.

I am using my fresh start and re-committing to healthy eating habits (including counting my Weight Watchers PointsPlus), exercising, and writing my blog.

I hope you’ll keep following my blog. That third of my June 11 resolutions might be the simplest. The other two thirds will at least be entertaining.

So I’m raising my glass to the healthy me… but I suppose if it’s a glass of champagne I had better limit it to just one.
